FEATURES AT A GLANCE:
---------------------
Items with a $ next to it, are only functional
after registering.
$ Configurable colors for caller's name, remarks saved read from
"wall.dat", and line bar. All three can be set to use any color
option you choose.
$ Checks user's security against the min. security setting in
"twall.cfg". If the user's security is less than what is in
"twall.cfg", the user will not get the option to enter a remark.
$ Configurable Title screen. You may change the name and the screen
itself for a totally customized look.
*Unregistered versions will not read in any data from "TWALL.CFG" and
will use default settings instead. With one exception!
You may edit the Title.ans & Title.asc screens, but you cannot change
the name until you have your key.
Completely self-maintaining. THE WALL will now delete the first
entry in "WALL.DAT" after 7 entries. Another words, only 7 entries
will be kept at any time.
Fun, easy to use interface. In plain terms... User Friendly.
INSTALLATION:
-------------
1. Copy all the files into whatever directory you'll be running it from.
2. Then edit TheWall.CFG file to suit your board.
Line 1: Door data file type
Line 2: Path to the door data file(s)
Line 3: BBS Name
Line 4: Sysop's Name
Line 5: Locked Baud Rate
As shown above, the door's data file type is specified in
line 1 and can be PCB for PCBoard, GAP for GAP (DOOR.SYS), SF for
Spitfire, RBBS for RBBS, WC for Wildcat!, TRIBBS for TriBBS, or
WWIV for WWIV.
3. Edit the TWALL.CFG file. Do not confuse this file with THEWALL.CFG.
Line 1- Color to use when displaying User's name read from WALL.DAT.
Line 2- Color to use when displaying the Remarks read from WALL.DAT.
Line 3- Color to use when displaying the Line Bar.
Line 4- Min security to enter a remark, "Add to the wall".
Line 5- Name of Color title screen, including extension.
Line 6- Name of Mono title screen, including extension.
*Do not put the path in Lines 5 & 6. Only the name. These
screens must reside in the same dir. as THE WALL.
4. Customize the title.ans & title.asc as you see fit.
*A recommendation is not to make the screen any larger than 80 X 20.
*If THE WALL cannot locate the screens, it will not lock up, but will
simply display a blank screen.
The color codes to use on Lines 1-3 are as follows:
0 = Black 9 = Light Blue
1 = Blue 10 = Light Green
2 = Green 11 = Light Cyan
3 = Cyan 12 = Light Red
4 = Red 13 = Light Magenta
5 = Magenta 14 = Yellow
6 = Brown 15 = White
7 = Lightgray * To make any color blink add 128 to
8 = Darkgrey these numbers.
5. Create your batch file(s) that will execute TheWall.
Sample batch file shown below:
@echo off
cd\mybbs\TheWall
TheWall TheWall.cfg
cd\mybbs
6. Add TheWall to your existing menu(s).

THEWALL.EXE
ADDITIONAL INFO:
---------------
Now that we have that out of the way, please read the information
below. It contains useful info. like function keys and the such.
The Locked baud rate is specified in line 5 of the TheWall.CFG file,
if the sysop doesn't lock the serial port, you must specify 0 for
the locked baud rate
NOTE: Although many door formats do pass the locked baud rate in the
door data files, some older formats such as RBBS do not. For
conformity, it is required that you specify the locked baud rate
in line 5.
The following is a sample door configuration file:
GAP
C:\TriBBS
Grant's Tomb
F.U.S.S. Software
38400
TheWall can be run locally without a door data file by specifying
/L after the configuration file parameter in the DOS command line.
Ex: TheWall TheWall.CFG /L
Nonstandard IRQs can be used by specifying the IRQ number after the
config parameter on the command line used to run the door.
If you use a non-standard IRQ, it is imperative that you use the
switch as shown in the example below.
Ex: TheWall TheWall.CFG IRQ
Function Keys:
------------
While the door is running, the sysop has certain functions available.
The following is a list of the keys and functions:
Key(s) Function
HOME Toggles between the user status window and a help
display that lists the RMDoor special keys.
F6 Takes 5 minutes away from the caller.
NOTE: This will NOT be returned to BBS, this is
only for the door's use.
F7 Gives 5 minutes to the caller.
NOTE: This will NOT be returned to the BBS.
F9 Quit the door and return the caller to the BBS.
F10 Enter chat mode. Pressing the ESC key exits the
chat mode.
Alt+D Drop to DOS.
MULTI-NODE USAGE:
-----------------
TheWall was not specifically written for multi-node systems, but
it can be run on multi-node boards.
First, you must have SHARE loaded.
TheWall does not keep any files open for any length of time, so
I do not anticipate any problems. TheWall has been tested on a 2 node
system, with no problems encountered.
However, if you do encounter difficulty due to multiple users trying
to access the door at the same time, there are still options.
The main batch file that calls TheWall would have to first look for
some sort of busy flag, then if none exist create one.
If the flag does exist, then pass the user to the TriScr door.
TRISCR simply calls up a screen in either Rip, Ansi, or Ascii
(All three autodetected). You create the screen. This screen would
notify the user that the door is in use.
Upon exiting TriScr, the user would then go back to the board.
If you have any more questions concearning multi-node setups,
please let us know... We'll try to help as much as possible.
Thankyou for trying TheWall, I hope that you and your users will find
it enjoyable.
